For Doctor’s preparing to sit for the QME Competency Examination, this course is required. This course will prepare you to pass the exam, and gain your Qualified Medical Evaluator credential. The eligibility requirements to take the QME Competency Examination are described in CCR 11 and the disability report writing course requirements are described in CCR 11.5. According to CCR 11 (b)(1) “prior to appointment as a QME, complete a course of at least twelve (12) hours in disability evaluation report writing pursuant to section 11.5 of this Article. This course satisfies ALL of those requirements including the mandatory subjects:
The Qualified Medical Evaluator’s Role in the Disability Evaluation Process (1 hour)
Elements of the Medical-Legal Report (1 hour)
The Language of Reports (4 hours)
The Administrative Director’s Disability Evaluation Protocols (1 hour)
The Third-Party Perspective (1 hour)
Anatomy of a Good Report (3 hours)
Mechanics of Report Writing (1 hour)
Submission of a Written QME Report
The course consists of recorded lectures on each of the required topics, as well as a report completion assignment. There is a 40-question multiple choice course examination that must be passed with a 70% correct passing grade. The course includes written references to all the Labor Codes, and Codes of Regulation that are relevant to the medical legal report writing process. Upon successful completion of all the course requirements, including the completion of the mock report writing exercise, you will receive a Certificate of Completion.
Completion of this Course is required before receiving your QME credential.
