Claims involving an allegation of cumulative trauma injury are on the rise rise rise. How can the QME quickly and accurately resolve disputed issues (and especially AOE/COE) on these difficult brain twisters?
There are only 3 types of evaluations that we get as Qualified Medical Evaluators:
- Claims for specific incident of injury
- Claims for cumulative trauma injury
- Claims for specific incident of injury with a cumulative trauma component
And, the frequency of claims involving an allegation of cumulative trauma are on the rise. Seven out of your next 10 evaluations will involve some allegation of cumulative trauma. These claims typically involve 1) multiple body parts, 2) representation by Applicant Attorney, and 3) a long delay (up to years) between the date of injury, and the date of reporting of the injury.
These factors contribute to difficult determinations for the Qualified Medical Evaluator and, because of close scrutiny by all the parties, the decisions have to be ACCURATE!
